How
Time
Here at Prince of Pea
ce, we believe in being Christians by conviction, not just by convention. In fact, we are an intentional community of Christian disciples. Our time belongs to God. The most important thing we do each week is worship God at Holy Mass every Sunday and Holy Day with our families, friends and fellow parishioners. We find our path to God through our daily work and life in our homes, sanctifying the day and giving the LORD thanks with our lives.
Please consider becoming an Active, Registered and Contributing Member of Prince of Peace. We also invite you to sign up for an hour of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament each week and take advantage of the many opportunities to serve in our parish and community.
Prince of Peace endeavors to be a safe environment for all of those who call this church their spiritual home. All of our volunteers participate in a Safe Environment Program provided by the Diocese of Charleston to increase awareness and accountability in the parish.
Talent
Everyone who calls Prince of Peace home brings special talents that the LORD has given them to the table. We hope to help you find a niche here at Prince of Peace where those God-given talents can be put to good use. There are ample volunteer and ministry opportunities here at Prince of Peace. Some are regular, and others just for a time, but we need all hands on deck! Please keep an eye on the weekly Bulletin which will give you ideas how you can use your gifts to the glory of God in our parish family.
Treasure
God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9.7). Here at Prince of Peace, we believe that a lifestyle of sacrificial stewardship is part of the Christian life. The Scriptures speak to us of the tithe, of that 10% we must give to God. Our Bishop has suggested that 5% of our income go to our local parish, 1% to the diocese, and 4% to charities of our choice. Using the envelope system or bank draft is an easy way to contribute to your parish, the many activities that go on here and the staff which make much of it happen.
We would like to set a goal of $25,000 a week to run the parish’s normal Operating Expenses. Would you consider making a weekly or monthly contribution by envelopes or bank draft. Please stop by the Parish Office during business hours and learn more.
We are also nearing our goal of paying off the church loan with the Diocese of Charleston. We still have $170,682.42 to go. As soon as we have retired the loan, we can go on to do more of what the LORD may be calling us as a parish to do. Would you consider making a pledge or a contribution to our Debt Reduction Fund? Please stop by the Parish Office during business hours and learn more.
Every family has its Wish List. On our Wish List are items that come up from time to time that would make the work that we do for Christ and His Church easier, more efficient and help us to reach more souls. Please consider buying something from our Wish List to donate to your parish family!
All the tithe of the land is the LORD’s. it is holy to the LORD. And all the tithe of herds and flocks, every tenth animal of all that pass under the herdman’s staff, shall be holy to the LORD. Leviticus 27.30, 32.
10% Biblical Tithe = 5% Parish + 1% Bishop + 4% Charity
5% Parish goes to the Operating Budget of your local church for normal operating expenses
1% Bishop goes to the Bishop’s Stewardship Appeal to support the corporate work of the Church across the Diocese of Charleston
4% Charity can go to the Parish’s Debt Reduction Fund, Saint Vincent de Paul, or other worthy Catholic and non-Catholic charitable organizations through second collections and free will offerings
Thanksgiving
So often we give of our time, talent, and treasure and no one stops to say thanks. Of course, giving is its own reward. No parish can keep the doors open without a significant sacrifice of time, talent and treasure. So THANK YOU for all that you do. Your reward will be in heaven, but we appreciate it just as much down here on earth too! And thanks to our Pastoral and Finance Councils that advise our Pastor, our Business Manager who keeps us in the black, and our Office Manager who keeps the whole ship afloat!
