 Rebecca Williams K4 Teacher

Education:
Miss Williams, BA is a 2012 summa cum laude graduate of the Catholic University of Dallas.  She completed a teacher training in the summer of 2012 at the “Early Childhood Summit” held at the College of Charleston.  In July, Miss Williams attended a training in Atlanta on the implementation of Pre-school curricula (reading, handwriting, and math) using classroom manipulatives we’re purchased over the summer thanks to proceeds from our annual POP-Art Party in May.

 

 

 

Sis Sipler K4 Aide

Education:
Mrs. Sipler has a two year certificate in Early Childhood Education.

 

 

 

 

 

Barb Kuhn Kindergarten teacher

Activities: A member of the SC Geographical Alliance.  Assist with the Lego Club.

Education: Mrs. Kuhn is a graduate of Bob Jones University where she earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Elementary Education with a minor in English.

Education:
Mrs. Larkin graduated from USC with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  She attended the College of Charleston where she earned her Master’s in Early Childhood Education.  Mrs. Larkin is SC certified in Early Childhood Education.

 

 

 

 

Lisa Fender Kindergarten Aide

Activities:
Started at POPCS in the office when the school opened.  Taught third grade for 3 years.  K-5 Aide 3 years.

Education:
Mrs. Fender graduated from Winthrop University with a BA in Communications in 1980.  In 1989 she finished Converse College with a Masters in Elementary Education.

Mr. Martinez is a graduate of University of South Carolina where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.  He earned his M.Ed. from Southern Wesleyan University and is certified in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, and Gifted and Talented.

Mrs. Moore is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where she earned both a Bachelors of Arts and a Masters of  Education in Early Childhood Education.

Education:
Mrs. Alabau is a graduate of SUNY New Paltz where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.  She earned her M. Ed. from The College of Saint Rose and is certified in Elementary Education.

Mrs. Farley is a graduate of Saint Francis University, Loretto, PA, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education/Library Science.  She earned her M.Ed from Southern Wesleyan University.  Mrs. Farley is certified in Elementary Education and Gifted and Talented.

Mrs. Burnett is a graduate of Texas A&M University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.  She is certified in grades EC through 4th.  Currently Mrs. Burnett is working on her M. Ed. at Clemson University in Special Education.

 

 

Suzette Campbell Fourth Grade Teacher

Education:
Mrs. Campbell is a graduate of Wingate University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.  She also earned her Masters of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Wingate University and is currently certified in Elementary Education.

 

 

Martha Smith Fourth Grade Teacher

Miss Smith is a graduate of Rockhurst University at Jesuit university located in Kansas City, Missouri where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.

Founder and faculty advisor for the POPCS Yearbook Staff, Science Fair director, and assistant faculty advisor for the Junior Beta Club

Miss Galloway is a graduate of Western Carolina University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.

 

 

Robin Marlar Fifth Grade Teacher

Education:
Mrs. Marlar has over 10 years of classroom experience and a Masters degree in elementary education.  She also served as a reading specialist and gifted and talented teacher in math and language arts in Arizona public schools.  Mrs. Marlar teaches all 5th grade students Math, Reading, and Language Arts while Miss Galloway – our 6-year POPCS veteran – teaches all Religion, Science, and Social Studies.

 

 

 

Migdalia L. Sanfeliz MS Math and Science

Education:
Mrs.  Sanfeliz has a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus and a master’s degree in curriculum and teaching of science also from the University of Puerto Rico.  She is South Carolina certified to teach Secondary Science, Biology and Mathematics.

 

 

 

Chris Martinez MS English and Reading

Began teaching in: 1993

Activities:
Founder and faculty advisor for the POPCS Junior Beta Club and the eighth grade Classics Book Club.

Education:
Mrs. Martinez is a graduate of Clemson University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education/ English.  She earned her M. Ed. from Southern Wesleyan University and is certified in Middle Level Language Arts, Gifted and Talented, and Secondary English.

 

 

Mark Brown MS Religion and History

Education:
Mr. Brown has a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of North Carolina and is currently completing a NC state certification at UNC.  He is also a sports fan and plans to carry on our flag football and softball tournaments with St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School next year.  He is joining us from St. Ann Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC.

 

 

 

 

 

Jamie Avery 6th Science and 8th Math Teacher

Education:
Mrs. Avery has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina, and a Masters in Elementary Education from Furman University.  She is certified in K – 8, and has attained additional certification in Middle Level Science and Social Studies as well as a Gifted and Talented Endorsement.  Mrs. Avery is also a proud parent of a Prince of Peace student.

 

 

Hellen Stevens Media/Technology Specialist/IT

POPCS Experience:
While at POPCS, Mrs. Stevens has set up the school library’s computerized catalog system and is working with volunteers to grow the volumes on our shelves with quality books.  She has also implemented the reading comprehension program, “Scholastic Reading Counts” for grades one through six.  It is currently a voluntary program with incentives for the students at the end of the year. She sees grades K5 through Sixth once a week for library classes.

After setting up the new computer lab in 2007, Mrs. Stevens planned and helped install the Ethernet network for the school and lab, the new upgrades of both the server and existing wireless network. She instructs all students in K5 through eighth grade once a week for computer classes, and manages the school’s IT needs.

Education:
Earned a BA from Belmont Abbey in Sociology in 1971. Played Basketball at the Abbey & elected captain in Senior Year. Served on the Student Disciplinary Committee as a Student Government Rep. Masters’ degree from USC with post graduate work at Georgia State and University of Tennessee.

 

 

Timothy Mackey Elementary and MS Latin

Mr. Mackey is a graduate of Bob Jones University where he studied Biblical Greek.

 

 

 

Patricia Vivas 4th, 7th and 8th Spanish Teacher

Education:
Mrs. Vivas has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Foreign Languages from the Universidad Pedagogica Nacional in Colombia.  She is certified in Colombia and South Carolina for Spanish and English as a Second Language.  Mrs. Vivas began teaching in 1999 in Colombia, South America where she taught Spanish Language Arts and French and English as a second language.  While in Colombia, she was the Department chair of the Language department as well as assistant folkloric dance teacher for extracurricular activities.  In the US, Mrs. Vivas has worked in Middle and High Schools.  She created, developed and implemented teaching units for the Exploratory and Spanish pilot immersion program in middle school and served as the Director of the Spanish club.  She also teaches adults in Technical College.

 

Mariellis Trujillo K4 to 3rd Elementary Spanish

Education:

Miss Trujillo graduated from USC last May 2012 with a major in Spanish and a minor in Education.  She is a parishioner at St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Simpsonville and a frequent lector at Spanish masses there.  Miss Trujillo is excited about beginning her new career as a teacher at Prince of Peace!

 

 

Kelly Herd K4-8th Grade General Music Teacher

Activities:
Director of St. Cecilia Choir and Primary Choir, Organist for Mass, Director of Christmas Concert and Spring Concert

Education:
Ms. Herd holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Furman University, where she also did coursework in Music Education.  She is an active member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, the Music Teachers National Association, and the Greenville Woman’s Music Club.  Ms. Herd also serves on the music staff at Furman University, where she teaches piano lessons and music theory in the Piano Program for Young People and accompanies undergraduate students.

 

Marilyn Alber Art Teacher/Aftercare Director

Activities:
Coordinator of POPCS student art for the South Carolina Independent School Association Annual Juried Art Show, Organizer and Designer of POPCS Annual Art Exhibit which represents student works from grades K-5 through 8th.

Education:
Ms. Alber attended Villa Angela Academy in Cleveland, Ohio where she majored in fine art. After graduation she established a small home based studio where she continues to produce commissioned works for private clients in a wide range of mediums.

Sharon McCabe Nurse

VBS and Field Day Nurse on Wheels

Education:
SUNY Buffalo. Spent three decades caring for the critically ill in ICU, CCU, ER and cardiac catheterization lab. Positions held range from staff nurse to critical care coordinator. Former A.C.L.S., B.C.L.S., A.P.L.S., and A.T.L.S. instructor. The last decade has been the most fun…spent caring for the health and well being of all my POPCS family and reassuring little ones that “it will be gone before you are married”.
