We interrupt the austerities of Lent to celebrate the Solemnity of St Joseph, spouse of Our Lady.  Joseph was an ordinary manual laborer, descended from the royal house of David. In the designs of Providence he was destined to become the spouse of the Mother of God. His high praise is expressed in a single phrase, “Foster-father of Jesus.” About this Sacred Scripture has little more to say than that he was a just man – an expression which indicates how faithfully he fulfilled his high trust of protecting and guarding God’s greatest treasure upon earth, Jesus and Mary.

Although, the Solemnity of St Joseph is transferred to Monday the 2oth, we will still honor him on Sunday, 19 March, with a Father’s Brunch.  Bring the favorite dish of the father in your family to share with your parish family.  There will be crafts for kids and opportunities for Fathers to take fun photos with their children.  We will also be taking donations for our new Holy Family Foster Closet.
