Position Summary: The Director of Catechesis and Evangelization (DCE) will oversee the Christian Formation (catechesis and life-long faith formation) program of the parish with the assistance of the Pastoral Associate of Children’s Catechesis (PACC) and the Pastoral Associate of Youth Ministry (PAYM) by promoting knowledge of the faith; active, conscious participation in the liturgy and sacramental life of the Church; moral formation that conforms the believer to Christ and His teaching; conversion to Christ through prayer and spiritual reflection; and, discipleship.  The PACC and PAYM will report to the DCE.  The DCE will collaborate with parish staff and volunteers to advance and support adolescent and adult catechesis and new evangelization initiatives and programs of catechesis on special topics and issues.

Essential Job Functions:

  • oversee the Christian Formation curriculum plan for parish-wide faith formation efforts and make sure that all pieces (children, youth, young adults, adults, families) come together in one cohesive unit
  • responsible for directly coordinating the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and Adult Faith Formation and Family Life, while overseeing the PACC who will be directly responsible for coordinating the Religious Education program for Pre-K-8th grade and be directly responsible for coordinating 8th grade Confirmation, and oversee the PAYM who will be responsible for CYO
  • responsible for scheduling programs, evaluating program resources, functioning as a catechetical resource and evaluating the effectiveness of the total program
  • responsible for designing adult faith formation programs, events, and service that would invite all parish and community members to active discipleship
  • responsible for scheduling all marriages, handling paperwork, and overseeing marriage prep for all couples
  • responsible for planning and directing all funerals and working with the bereavement committee on any receptions
  • responsible for forming those who catechize as teachers, ministers, and parish staff (ex: catechists, teachers, liturgical ministries, volunteers, etc.)
  • responsible for facilitating a parish ministry council where the different parish ministries will coordinate their calendars and work together
  • responsible for planning and coordinating the ministry fair to help engage and invite parishioners to give of their time, talent, and treasure
  • responsible for oversight of the Communications Director (a volunteer) in editing and maintaining the parish website and all parish social media
  • responsible for directing the communications director (a volunteer) in designing and implementing all parish PR activities such as t-shirts, welcome booklets, car magnets, etc
  • create yearly budget for all Christian Formation programs
  • collaborate with school leadership to build bridges between enrolled families and parish life, invite all families to active life in the faith
  • recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with faith formation programs

Education Requirements/Position Qualifications:  

  • Masters Degree in Catholic Theology and/or Ministry required
  • Proficient with Mac, PC , and Microsoft Office
  • Organizational Skills
  • 3-5 years experience in Church Ministry preferred
